As a corporate communication major, you’ll prepare to excel on the “people side” of business. You’ll master a wide range of interpersonal, communication and leadership skills that are essential to success in business—and in life.

Prepare to thrive in the information age

国产偷拍视频Corporate communication examines the key ways organizations connect with their most important constituents—including customers, employees, competitors and the news media. You’ll develop strong business writing and speaking skills; study the subtleties of management, leadership and organizational behavior; and practice the art of communicating within corporations and across cultures. You’ll learn to assess an organization’s communication needs—both internal and external—and to develop effective strategic responses for a variety of audiences. This powerful, relevant, wide-ranging major will prepare you to help organizations convey compelling and authentic corporate identities in an information-driven world. Corporate communication majors can choose among 45 minors, from economics and criminology to informatics and photo-cinema. The Department of Communication Arts and Sciences offers these minors:

Work at the intersection of corporate and communication practice

As a corporate communication graduate, you be at the table when your company is deciding how to sharpen and amplify its corporate voice. You will enter the job market having already completed an independent project involving original research, a conference presentation, or both. You’ll have engaged an innovative curriculum with a choice of electives that allows you to tailor your learning to your passions and interests. Our curriculum is designed to prepare you for lifelong intellectual and professional competence—to enable you to earn your way into a leadership position in the profession of your choice.

    Our connections are your connections

    Practical, hands-on experience is built into our corporate communication curriculum. Our internships draw on Chicago’s vast business and media resources. You’ll test-drive your dream job and gain invaluable real-world experience. Through the university’s Community-based Learning Program, you’ll master academic material while providing compassionate service to people in need, in the Chicago area and beyond. You’ll interact purposefully with international students in a unique program that brings a global perspective to the learning experience. All corporate communication majors become student members of the National Communication Association (NCA), the Central States Speech Association, or both. You may even get a chance to join Lambda Pi Eta, the NCA’s prestigious student honor society.

    • You will complete at least one internship—and we’ll help you land one. Recent sites include CBS Radio, ESPN Radio, Clear Channel Communications and Disney Worldwide Services.
    • We hope you’ll consider a semester abroad. You can choose from among 20 programs on four continents, from Salzburg to South Africa.
